This letter has been sent to the North Devon Gazette and The North Devon... We were amazed to read that Tory Councillor Davis believes that improvements to the Link Road will make the biggest difference to the health problems of North Devon. Your readers may have read in the Journal, that residents in Ilfracombe are expected to live a whole 14 years less that those living in Bideford (Orchard Hill area) and across North Devon life expectancy is below the regional average. However we now have a solution. To remain healthier for longer, according to Davis, we need an improved faster link road. The cost of which is approximately £500 million.
Hospitals can close – nurses not recruited – junior doctors not supported – a black hole left by GPs retiring and not being replaced – no matter – the new shiny Link Road will save us all. Our health safe in Tory hands ? Time to wake up. Pam and Toby Ebert

The only thing that is safe in Tory hands is their own money.
