North Devon Labour Party has backed Jeremy Corbyn to be the new leader of the Labour Party.
At an all members meeting, he was the clear choice, winning over 50% of the vote on the first round of counting. Yvette Cooper was in second place. By a similar margin, Ben Bradshaw's candidacy for Deputy Leader was endorsed by the local party members. These supporting nominations give an indication of who Labour members are supporting but the final outcome is determined by an all member vote - the results of which will be announced on September 12th. Over 40,000 people have joined the Labour Party since May and here in North Devon membership has increased by 50% with many others registering their support.
