I am Steve Hinchliffe and I will be standing for Labour at the upcoming District Council Elections. I have lived and worked as a Carpenter in South Molton for 30 years with my wife Sue who is an occupational therapist for the NHS at NDDH. We brought up two daughters here who attended South Molton Schools. I served on the Governing body of South Molton Community Infants School and am passionate about education in the town. Housing in the town is a huge issue. There is no shortage of developments but there a woeful shortage of affordable housing for Local people. If successful I will be working with the Town Council to develop a Community Land Trust housing project to provide homes for local people. I will work to ensure that all projects and proposals brought before the council are rigorously checked and evaluated in accordance with their environmental sustainability.
My pledges to you WORK TO TACKLE HOUSING NEED We need properly planned development with full provision for genuinely affordable and social housing. DEFEND OUR NHS SEVICES With continuing threats to our health services I will fight for our local hospital beds and health facilities. PUT THE INTERESTS OF THE MANY FIRST I will fight for services that benefit and address the needs and aspirations of all in our community. FIGHT FOR FAIR FUNDING FOR OUR SCHOOLS School budgets have been cut to the bone - our children deserve better. ....BE A FRESH VOICE IN OUR COMMUNITY There is too narrow a range of interests amongst our Councillors and I want to see that change.
