I have lived in Braunton since 2009 and am married to Val who taught at Kingsacre School for over 25. Years. I taught in Wells, Somerset for 35 years and moved to Braunton permanently when I retired.
We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of the country and with Climate Change being the biggest crisis facing us we must, as we rebuild after Covid, take all the steps needed to work towards achieving net zero carbon emissions across the whole of the county by 2030. We can all play our part and I’m delighted that Braunton Parish Council has set its own ambitious Zero Carbon targets.
The County can do more and I will press for policies that will promote new Green Technologies and encourage local enterprises who seek to innovate. Here in Braunton we can make our roads safer for cyclists and walkers by introducing a 20mph speed limit throughout the Parish and I will support a dedicated cycle route to the beach at Saunton. Working with the Parish Council I want to see a solution found to the air pollution problems at Caen St.
If elected I will work with the many voluntary organization throughout Braunton and the villages to support the excellent work they do – so much to the fore during these last 12 months. I want to see a Youth facility return to Braunton and ensure that our young people get the support they need.
